Beira – A3 Limited Edition Giclée Print
Inspiration
The inspiration for this artwork comes from J.K. Rowling’s new woman-only service: “Beira’s place”, launched in winter 2022.
As a feminist artist, I have a natural interest in representations of feminist archetypes: recurring symbols of female characters, mythology or figure who defy, challenge or precede patriarchy. Goddesses are one of those archetypes which embody the fundamental characteristics of non-patriarchal thinking.
Beira caught my attention for her non-stereotypical quality. Beira, the Crone Goddess of Winter, is powerful and threatening. She brings winter, she is as old as time, she walks alone in the snow, sits on her throne at the top of the mountain, builds mountains, and mines rocks. Beira is a wise woman, an old woman, a witch, a Goddess, and a Creator. She is feared as potentially lethal, as winter can be. I also imagine her as a protective figure for younger women, bringing the vision of intergenerational sisterhood and solidarity.
Creative Process
This highest quality giclée fine art print has been accurately reproduced from the original artwork created in winter 2022 in my studio in West Wales. It has been printed onto Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm A3 paper.
The prints have been hand modified, background hand-painted in silver ink.

Beira Giclée prints are available in A3 size. Width = 29.7cm Height = 42cm.

All giclée fine art prints will arrive numbered, hand-stamped and signed on reverse by me.
Packaging
