Women-Only – No Men Beyond This Point – Hampstead Heath action!!

On the 28th of July 2024, Michelle Liverbird and myself, would like to invite you to join a direct action/live art performance surrounding Kenwood Ladies Pond in Hampstead Heath. Based on the “Women-Only – No Men Beyond This Point” artwork, we will be reclaiming the Ladies’ pond as a woman-only space!

In recent years Kenwood Ladies Pond has been the site of men’s invasion. Since 2019, supported by the Kenwood Ladies Pond Association, men have been allowed to enter this herstorical! woman-only space, if they call themselves women.

NO MAN IS A WOMAN!

The Ladies Pond exists for women’s enjoyment safely and away from the male gaze. It does not exist to fulfil male sexual fantasies or for men’s gender validation.

NO MEN BEYOND THIS POINT!

Based on my artwork “Women-only – No Men beyond This Point” , a conceptual art piece exploring definitions, linguistic boundaries and women’s legal rights to exclude men from our spaces, we invite you to come and physically HOLD THE LINE.

Together side by side, we will hold a symbolic line around the pond and meadow, making the area truly woman-only.

People who insist that men can be women often accuse us of gatekeeping the word “woman”. This is exactly what we will be doing 😀

Together we set and hold our own boundaries.

We have set up a crowdfunder to help us pay for the expenses of creating this unique live art piece. ( such as printing material and supplies as well as security on the day.)

WHO WE ARE

Michelle Liverbird is a radical feminist and lesbian activist. She has been actively involved in organising a number of feminist and women-only events since 2017.

Angela C. Wild is a lesbian feminist activist, political artist and writer, she is a former member and co-founder of Get The L Out UK Lesbian activist group and founder of Wild Womyn Workshop, a shop for radical feminist activists.
